These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Contractor in Texas — the marketplace where Texas homeowners post projects and contractors send competing offers. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms.
1. The service
Contractor in Texas is a neutral marketplace. We connect homeowners and independent contractors; we are not a party to any contract formed between them and we do not perform construction work ourselves. Contractors are independent businesses, not our employees or agents.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your credentials secure. Homeowner accounts are free. Contractor accounts require a company profile; contractors are asked to provide license, insurance, and business-registration details, which are self-reported and may be reviewed before a listing is marked verified.
3. Projects and offers
Homeowners are responsible for describing projects accurately. Offers sent by contractors are binding proposals that expire as stated. Accepting an offer creates a direct agreement between homeowner and contractor, documented in a contract with itemized milestones.
4. Payments
All payments for work are made directly between homeowner and contractor, outside the platform. Contractor in Texas does not process, hold, or escrow funds for any project, and does not guarantee payment or collection. Milestones in a contract are a mutual progress-tracking and documentation tool only: marking a milestone complete or approved records the status of the work — it does not move money.
5. Fees
Posting projects is free for homeowners. Contractors pay the subscription plan shown on the Pricing page; the platform does not take a commission or a percentage of any project you complete — homeowners pay contractors directly. Plans are billed monthly; you can cancel at any time to stop future charges. Fees already paid for the current billing period are non-refundable except where required by law. If we introduce optional paid lead features in the future, their price and terms will be disclosed before you buy. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree that any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas.
6. Disputes
If work does not match the agreed milestone, either party may open a dispute on the platform. We may review evidence from both sides, update the contract's milestone records accordingly, and help mediate. Because payments are made directly between the parties, we do not release, refund, or withhold money for any work, and our findings do not limit either party's legal rights.
7. Prohibited conduct
You may not misrepresent your identity, licensing, or insurance; post false reviews; or use the service for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
8. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is." We do not independently verify every contractor's license, insurance, or work, and do not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any work. To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, our aggregate liability is limited to the platform fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
